These endearing asteropyge trilobites come from the Widder formation in South-Western Ontario, Canada. It is believed that the deep glabellar furrows were attachment points for mouth parts and that greenops may have been a predatory trilobite, feeding on worms.

A unique piece that includes both part and counterpart for a bookended display. This piece has so much going on that I decided to prep each of them separately and retain the negative impressions on both slabs. I felt that preparing the one side ventrally did a diservice to an otherwise excellent single specimen. Brachiopods and other pieces of Devonian seafloor (along with another partial Greenops) litter both slabs and add some depth to the piece. An incredible and unique set of fossils for the discerning collector!

There is around 3% restoration on the upper specimen of the double plate located on the glabella, eyecap and below the right eye. Collected in June 2025 and prepared in July 2025. I prepare these greenops specimens under high magnification and low blast pressures to retain all of the small details and pustules.
