EPIC Dendrocrinus celsus Crinoid - Rochester Shale, Silurian

An incredibly rare and complete Dendrocrinus celsus crinoid from the blank and unforgiving shales of the Erie Canal near Rochester, New York. This crinoid is made all the rarer since it features some interesting pathology in the form of a parasitic gall near the calyx. The holdfast is present and highly detailed. The anal sac is visible (see macro photos) as well as what appears to be a small gastropod. 

A tiny amount of restoration has been applied near the gall section and a small patch near the holdfast. This is due to the dolomite rot present in nearly all fossils from the Rochester. 

Plate is 34cm by 12.5cm wide, crinoid would be 32cm long from holdfast to tips if laid out straight.
