The classic American trilobite! Formerly known as 'Phacops', this iconic trilobite is the most common trilobite found throughout New York State. On the Ontario side of things, they are much less-common and sport a caramel brown coloration. Prepared slowly under microscope with soft air abrasion, the macro photos show the quality of our preparation.

Phacops VS Greenops

A stunning association of Greenops/Eldredgeops! I have been looking for this association for around 8 years of fossil hunting in SW Ontario. Despite being a common species in the Hamilton group of New York, in Ontario, specimens are very uncommon though well documented in the Hungry Hollow mb. In the Widder formation however, where Greenops are found, they are unbelievably rare to find. I split on this piece in April 2025 and during preparation, I found the Greenops specimen. Pyrite flecks are present along the body of the Eldredgeops. This specimen would compliment any Devonian collection.

A small amount of restoration is present on the Phacops (approx 2-2.5%), a patch of tail and on the pygidial axis and a small chip in the left cheek.
