This Silurian species is among the most famous Calymnid trilobites due to their massive size. Up until recently, this species has only been described from Anticosti Island in Eastern Quebec, Canada. In Northern Ontario, despite being extraordinarily rare, the Stormbed quarry has been producing sister fauna to the island site with species such as Distyrax, Stelckaspis, Rielaspis and now, Diacalymene. As our Northern project continues, I am hopeful many more species will be added to this list.

An extremely rare find from the Stormbed quarry, this specimen was found splitting the rock in large sheets. It was split between part and counterpart and painstakingly prepared in the lab. Prep took around 10 hours as the rock is incredibly hard and unforgiving. Photos are both dry and wet with alcohol to show details and textures. This trilobite is among the rarest Calymnids in Canada.

A small patch of restoration is present on the glabella and a minor amount on the right side where the split occurred. Approx 1-1.5%.
